I am a Solicitor/Solicitor Advocate at Shoosmiths in Northampton, acting for banks in litigation matters. I completed an LLB (Hons) at Newcastle University and worked in London for a few years before undertaking the LPC part-time at the College of Law (London Bloomsbury), whilst working full-time at Woodfines LLP. I completed my training contract with Woodfines, undertaking seats in Commercial Property, Civil Litigation, Corporate/Commercial and Commercial Litigation. I gained Higher Rights of Audience in 2010.
I am very interested in current legal issues and am an elected member of the Bedfordshire Law Society Committee and also sit on the Northamptonshire Law Society Council. I mentor law students and am involved in a number of pro-bono projects.
However, there's more to life than law! I also enjoy socialising, travelling, good food and wine, films, live comedy/music/theatre, books, skiing, current affairs and trying new stuff.
As Chair of the Northants & Bucks Junior Lawyers, I hope to build upon the group's previous success with a range of social, networking and practice events throughout 2011. We have an excellent and enthusiastic Committee and I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic year for Northants & Bucks Junior Lawyers.
Our events will be open to all: members and non-members alike. It would be particularly great to see even more non-lawyers and young professionals from the Northants, Beds and Bucks business community, so please get in touch and pass on our details to anyone you think may be interested.
I also hope to expand our lawyer membership and I encourage anyone in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire involved with the profession - from paralegals, law degree/GDL/ILEX students through to 5 year PQE solicitors, barristers and legal executives - to sign up and get involved! If you're new to Northants & Bucks Junior Lawyers, the Committee will always be on hand at events to introduce you to others and no one will be left on their own!
