The JLD has its own website: www.juniorlawyers.com, and one of their main goals this year is to improve it.
They want the website to be the first port of call for junior lawyers - to find out about local JLD events, to seek career advice, or to debate topical issues that affect JLD members.
They are offering you a great opportunity to play a part in the JLD's development, by contributing to the site.
Please submit all contributions, either through NBJL (younglawyers@nbjl.co.uk), or by copy to us. That will ensure your contribution is credited to our local area and may earn you a prize if we use it on this website too!
Here's some ideas to help you:
TOP 10 TIPS SERIES
They want to produce tip sheets, with your practical tips on a range of issues, such as:
- Conducting legal research
- Qualifying into other jurisdictions
- Getting a training contract / job
- Interview techniques
- What employers want
- Managing expectations
- Getting involved in pro bono projects
- Debt management
- Networking
- First day in court
- How to keep your job
- Stress Management
Where possible, please also let them know about any related external resources or websites on the same topic that JLD members could find useful.
OPINION PIECES
Send them your thoughts (approx 500 words) on issues affecting the JLD membership as they arise, e.g.the impact of the credit crunch on junior lawyers.

(No longer than two sides of A4 in point 12 typeface)
These can be on just about anything you like, but should be on a subject that concerns JLD members (LPC students to 5 year qualified solicitors). Articles they have printed previously have concerned the following subjects:

- Alternative Career Choices
- Pro Bono Work
- Debt Management
- Realties of Life as a Trainee/NQ/In-house Lawyer
- Changing Discipline

- Reviews of books, documentaries, TV programmes or films with a legal focus
